Remembering Mom

Here's a clip from our "Remembering Mom" DVD.
To Where You Are, sung by my little brother Dennis at Mom's funeral.
It's hard to believe it's been 5 yrs.
What a beautiful example she is to me. I'm blessed to have her as my Mom.

The heart is stronger than you think
like it can go through anything
And even when you think it can’t it finds a way to still push on, though
Sometimes you want to run away
Ain’t got the patience for the pain
And if you don’t believe it look into
your heart the beat goes on
I’m tellin’ you,
Things get better
Through whatever
If you fall, dust it off, don’t let up
Don’t you know you can go be your own miracle
You need to know
~CHORUS~
If the mind keeps thinking you’ve had enough
But the heart keeps tellin you don’t give up
Who are we to be
questionin, wonderin what is what
Don’t give up
THROUGH IT ALL, JUST STAND UP!
It’s like we all have better days
Problems gettin all up in your face
Just because you go through it
Don’t mean it gotta take control, no
You ain’t gotta find no hiding place
Because the heart can beat the hate
Don’t wanna let your mind keep playin’ you
And sayin’ you can’t go on
I’m tellin’ you,
Things get better
Through whatever
If you fall
Dust if off, don’t let up
Don’t you know you
Can go
Be your own
Miracle
You need to know
~CHORUS~
You don’t gotta be a prisoner in your mind
If you fall, dust it off
You can live your life
Let your heart be your guide
Yeah yeah yeah
And you will know that you’re good if you trust in god
Everything will be alright, yeah
Light up the dark, if you follow your heart
And it will get better
Through whatever
~CHORUS~
You got it in you, find it within
You got in yah, find it within yah
You got in you, find it within
You got in you, find it within yah
You got in you, find it within
Find it within you, find it within

2008 4-H Lamb Show

Shelby and Brock did great with their lambs this year.
Each 4H member can weigh in 2 lambs in June. If both lambs make weight,
they can show both lambs in the quality show.
But each member can only sell one lamb.

We were so busy this summer, it seems the lambs got walked less,
and their feed schedule was not very organized.
I was worried their lambs wouldn't do that great.
(shows how much I know)

Their lambs were a little wild this year, but the kids were able to show them well.

Both of Brock's lambs took 2nd in their weight class.
Both of Shelby's lambs took 1st place in their class.
So all 4 went back to the final top 14 round.
They had to find 2 kids to help show their extra lambs.

As the judge weeded them out, it came down to...
Both of Shelby's lambs and one of Brocks as the 3 lambs left.

Brock's lamb took 3rd place.
Shelby's lambs took Grand Champion & Reserve Champion!

Me and Travis were shocked.
Shebly and Brock were so happy, Shelby a little more...
but Brock was a good sport.

After the Judge made his picks and Shelby got her ribbons,
there was a little confusion about what would happen at the sale.
Shelby managed to do something that no other 4H member in Oneida County has done,
She won both Grand and Reserve Champion,
you can show 2 lambs, but only sale 1 lamb.
But the Resereve and Grand Champion must sale.

It was decided that Brock would sale his 3rd place lamb as the Reserve Champion,
and get to walk his lamb in the Parade of Champions at the Rodeo.
But Shelby would get to keep both ribbons, and trophies.

Shelby and her 2008 Grand Champion, BJ

Shelby and her Reserve Champion, PJ
She raised PJ's Mother, Pepper, 2 years previously.

Shelby with BJ and PJ

The owner of Thomas Market bought her Grand Champion

Brock with his 3rd place lamb, Ferb

Brock sold Ferb as the Reserve Champion to Davis Sod

Brock with Phineas, the Judge really liked her,
but said she was small, needed another couple of weeks.
She weighed in at only 105 lbs. and placed 12th.

Shelby and Brock picked out their own lambs.
We buy them from Travis's cousin in Tremonton.
Idaho can show/sell Ewes and Wethers.
Our kids choose Ewes because they can go on to be Mom's
instead of dinner.

Great Job Shelby and Brock!

West Nile Fever

We have been so busy! I can't believe next week is the fair/lamb show & sale!
And 1 week from Monday School Starts! Were did the summer go?

We have been spending alot of time in Island Park (by West Yellowstone)
working on a job.
The kids play while me and Travis work (but we have been teaching Brock and Shelby to chink, and they are getting pretty good)

Are latest adventure....
While in Island Park Chloe got bit by a mosquito,
2 days later she spikes a 103 degree temp.
and she complained that her head and neck hurt.

Yes, I'm over-protective and tend to panic.

But the bite and symptoms were making me nervous.
Once her fever broke she developed a rash, and that was
enough for me to call her Dr.

It was West Nile Fever.
She was very sick, but we were lucky
An infected mosquito can cause the Fever or the Virus.
The Virus is when it leads to neurological problems and meningitis.

Even using repellent she was bit and infected. So PLEASE be careful.
You never know how an infected mosquito will effect you until you're bitten.

July 5

July 5th we took Shelby to the Jr timed events rodeo in Plymouth.
She was entered in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Goat tie down.
She did great! Since this rodeo didn't require "western attire"
Shelby gladly got rid of her long sleeve shirt by the goat tie-down.
At 100 degrees, it was the hottest day of the year!
Here is a clip from Shelby's Goat tie.

July 4th Steer ride

July 4th Brock rode a Steer at the Plymouth Jr. Rodeo.
Another scary one for Mom! After this one,
Brock jumped up, and ran, then sat back down to catch his breath.
He thought it was great because it's the first time he's been "hung up"
I think he was lucky to get away with a few bruises and a stiff neck.
Wish I would've kept the camera recording, but once I saw him under the steer,
I panicked and hit the pause button.

4 years in the making....

After stillborn twins and 2 miscarriages,
Bo finally gave birth to a beautiful little Filly!
Of course Bo had to have her while me and Travis
were gone on an over-night job.
Shelby called that morning to tell us the good news!
She thought for sure it was a boy, and from the kid's description
we thought we'd come home to a Grulla Colt, but
what we had was a Blue Roan Filly. (tricky umbilical cord)
She is adorable, and so worth the wait.

At the beach

I made this page for my brother Dennis and his wife Alison.
I took the picture of them on the beach,
and when I saw the picture Alison took of their footprints,
I had an idea for a scrap page. I had so much fun on our quick
drive up the coast, they showed me some great spots,
and I got to walk on the sand, and put my feet in the Ocean
for the first time in 14 yrs!
This is a thank you for a great trip, hope you like it!

Jr . Rodeo's have started again

Saturday was our first Jr Rodeo this year.
We arrived at the arena in Grace at 8:00 AM and left at 7:30 PM,
it was a very cold/windy day only got out of the 40's the last 30 min. we were there.

Shelby broke her own record from last year Running Barrels,
she had a 29 second run. She had a clean run in Pole Bending,
but we have to get Cliff to go faster.
She did great with her Goat Tie Down, but the goat got loose.

Brock had a tough day.
For the Calf Tie Down he was up after a calf change,
got a big calf and had trouble flipping him,
but he kept trying, and got a hold of the legs and pulled,
he ended pulling the calf on top of himself.
But for Mom, the worst part of the day was Brock in the Steer Riding.
He about gave me a heart attack.
When he hit the dirt, the steer landed on him with both back legs,
he hit Brock so hard, it knocked him down too.
It took him a bit to catch his breath, but he is ok.
He has a good bruise on his back, and he was very sore this morning.
We are so glad he was wearing his vest.
Me and Travis were hoping it scared him and hurt bad enough
that he would decide maybe he didn't want to ride Bulls,
but nope....he wants to keep on riding!
He even told his Dad, "that really hurt, but it was kinda cool".
All I can say is, he is just like his Dad,
and that isn't gonna help me sleep at night!

In 2 weeks we get to do it all over again.
We are hoping for better weather, and Wacey is going to try the Goat Tie.

Missing Mom

Last night I made this page in Memory of Mom.

Credits

Journaling-

Mom, we miss you so very much
On every Mother’s Day;
And not just then, but every minute,
Since you went away.

You were the center of our lives
Before your soul passed on;
It’s just so hard for us to believe
That you are really gone.

But we celebrate the life you lived
And all the things you gave us;
Our wonderful memories, Mom, of you
Are the things that will comfort us.

Please think of us, as we think of you
With hearts so full of love;
We’re looking up at you, sweet Mom,
As you look at us from above.

Mullet Man

Brock and his Mullet....I just had to scrap it!
He's our little 80's flashback kid.
He loves his mullet and mine and Travis' old rock-n-roll collection.

The 80's called, they want their Mullet back.

Journaling:
My dear Brock, you love your mullet! It makes me smile.
You don't care what others think or say. Some friends
told you to cut it off...others even laughed. But you
didn't care! You said, I like it, and I'm keeping it!
Now some of your friends of grown a mullet, because they
want to be like you!

Where is spring?

Hope everyone is having a great Easter Weekend!
It's hard to believe its Spring. We've had new snow
3 days this week!
This is just a fun page I did the other night, when I was trying
to wrap my mind around the thought of Easter weekend,
When it was snowing HUGE snowflakes, and we got 6 more inches of new snow :)
Hope everyone has a beautiful Easter Weekend!
We all wish we were in Vegas for the Easter party :(

Hi everyone!
Im finally on my way to recovery. I can't believe I was in the hospital for 4 days!
But as crappy as I still feel, it was probably a good thing.
The older kids are being great helpers, and Chloe is being so gentle and sweet!

Brock is done with traveling basketball, and his team took 2nd place in the championship!
I'm so proud of him and how much his skill has developed this year.

Here is my latest page I've done, it was picked as a gallery stand out too!
These are pictures Sherrie took of me and Travis,
And I've finally scrapped them. Annie's "Perfect Day" kit was perfect for them.

More snow pictures

Remember...click on the pictures to see them BIGGER.
These pictures are all from Super Bowl Sunday.
Except Chloe, I had to add one of her, this was from the week before.
She LOVES the snow :)

The dogs are Tinker (without a tail) and her daughter Vegas (with tail).

We have had at least 4 big storms since this, and lots of little ones.
It's been such a fun winter!

Even Chloe loves the snow!

Vegas loves to be in pictures :)

This is not an optical illusion, the top of the snow drift
is half way up the power poles.

Snow pictures!

I Keep promising snow pictures, and I'm finally getting around to it :)
Here are the first few of many. These are from the big storm on Super Bowl Sunday.
It took 2 days for us to dig out of this one.

The side of our house, and what is left of our 7ft dog kennel~
(1 month later it is still this burried) yep, our dogs run free, LOL!

Belle's Birthday

Feb 1st was Belle's 4th Birthday. It came right in the middle of
the biggest snow storms we have ever seen. But the morning of the 1st
we had a few hrs of blue sky and were able to dig out and
make it to the cemetery to wish our little Angel Happy Birthday.
We let off 4 balloons marking her 4 yrs.
We miss our little Belle, but feel so blessed to have her in our family.
Thank you to all who remembered Belle with us.

Dear Mom,

I finished this on Friday and posted it to my gallery at DST,
It was picked as a gallery stand-out! A first for me! I was so excited,
Brock told me it's one of his favorite pages I've done, isn't he sweet :)

*Remember you can click on images for a bigger picture*

Journaling~
Dear Mom,
I would love to have held Belle on my lap to tell her about you, but since I can't will you please hold her on yours and tell her about me?

Mom lost her battle with breast cancer just 6 six weeks before I lost Belle. I find comfort in knowing that Belle is with her Grandma.

Scorpion comments

I've been laughing at the comments on my last post.
Alison, they live for 10-15 yrs, LOL!
We will have to lock them up and hide them so you'll come visit :)
Sherrie, they are just for watching! Some people hold them, the sting is like a bee sting unless your allergic,
then it can be very BAD, no thanks, I'll pass.
But we do get them out to clean the tank. I scoop them out with a spatula,
and put them in a BIG metal mixing bowl with slippery sides so they can't escape.
After they calm down, Me Travis and Wacey have touched them.....very carefully.
Chloe is fascinated with them, she calls them "Crickets" we try to tell her the crickets are the little bugs they eat,
but she insists the scorpions are the Crickets. We have to move the tank because
she likes to push a stool over to them and climb up to lift the lid, yikes!!!

We have been getting so much snow!
Last week Church was cancelled and the kids had 3 snow days out of a 4 day school week.
One day they went to school, but a few hrs later roads got bad enough to close and the kids were sent home.
Our kids were stuck in town at a friends house till that night because we were snowed in and the roads were closed.
I've taken losts of snow pictures, and I'll be posting them this week.

~Much Love to all~

Wacey's new pets

These were a total surprise to Wacey! Me and Travis saw them,
We knew Wacey would love them, but we weren't to sure (mostly me)
But by the time we got home from Pocatello we decided they would be the
perfect surprise! The next morning Travis went back up and brought home
TWO! (he said they need to be together) and wouldn't you know, after
researching them on google, we are positive it's a male and female, yikes!
And yes they breed very well in captivity, usually litters of 10-20 live births...
*Mental head slap*
What were we thinking!!! They are Black Emperor Scorpions. about 7-8 inches long. and in the
dark with a black light, they GLOW. They are very docile, and quite interesting, I even
help mist them and feed them live worms and crickets, YUCK!
But our little budding scientist is so HAPPY!
Next he wants a snake....a King Cobra.....not in my house!!!! LOL
So here are the pictures!

Sting and Helga

They are a dark, shiny black, but the flash reflects their "glow"
